Nets - Insect Nets (Bags and Hoops)

These Australian made net handles and hoops are constructed from relatively strong, lightweight aluminium tubing. The handles are clear anodised which eliminates the soiling of hands from the aluminium. The top section of the handles has been structured so that the hoop slides tightly inside the tubing. The hoop is then held firmly in place by means of a bolt and two wing nuts

Optional extras are the extension poles that give added length to the handles. These extension poles fit each of the handles.

To obtain a complete net one must choose the required bag, the hoop that goes with the bag (matching diameter) and also the handle. The handle will fit all hoops, so when selecting the handle, one has simply to decide the required length of the handle.

At this stage you have the complete net - but if required - you then have the option of obtaining various extensions to increase the length of the handle.

How to choose a Complete Net: (Bag, hoop and handle)

Step 1 - Select a net bag from the listing.
Step 2 - Select an appropriate hoop for that net bag. Included with the net bag listing are the catalogue number for the hoop that applies to that particular bag - In most cases you have the option of obtaining a standard or collapsible hoop.
Step 3 - Choose the type of handle that is required.

Net Bags (Australian made)
Two different styles of insect net bags are available.
1) Series E38 to E43 has a rounded style taper (butterfly style).
2) Series E562 to E564 has a funnel style taper (sweep net style).

Both styles are made from either polyester or polyganza material and are reinforced at the rim with either black or white calico.

The dark bottle green coloured polyganza bags (coded BG) are suitable for collecting larger insects such as butterflies and dragonflies.

The ivory coloured polyganza bags (coded BIV) are suitable for collecting smaller items such as flies, where the lighter backdrop makes it easier to see what has been collected.

The polyganza material is extremely soft and fine which minimises and damage to the specimens. Furthermore, it does not easily snag, tear or run and grass seeds are easily removed. However, kindly note that the finer closed mesh of the polyganza bags can result in increased wind resistance when sweeping.

Hoops (Australian made)
The hoops are constructed from relatively strong, lightweight aluminium tubing. The standard hoop consists of one piece, whereas the collapsible type dismantles into 2 sections. Care must be taken with the collapsible hoops from binding together at the join which can make it difficult to separate the two halves. It is recommended that the joining section be oiled/greased.

The hoops are available in four (4) sizes.

E 29 Standard Hoop 304mm diameter

E 32 Collapsible Hoop 380mm diameter
E 33 Standard Hoop 456mm diameter

Please note that 600mm hoops are only available in collapsible form

Handles (Australian made)
The handles are constructed from relatively strong, lightweight aluminium tubing. They are clear anodised which eliminates the soiling of hands from the aluminium. The top section of the handles has been structured so that the hoop slides tightly inside the tubing. The hoop is then held firmly in place by means of a bolt and two wing nuts.

All the hoops are compatible with the handles.
