  Use to aid rapid response in emergency situations. Contains an illustrated guide to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and notes on 10 common life threatening emergencies.

Physical Environment

• Aloe Vera Lip Balm and Sunscreen (4.2gm) x 1
  Use to prevent burning and dryness of the lips and for UV protection of the skin if sunscreen is unavailable.

• Aloe Vera Gel (25gm) x 1
  Use to treat minor burns (after appropriate first aid) and skin irritations.

• 10% povidone/iodine Antiseptic Solution) (15ml) x 1
  Use to sterilize one litre of drinking water as follows:
  warm clear water 8 drops / 30 mins
  warm cloudy water 16 drops / 30 mins
  cold clear water 16 drops / 60 mins
  cold cloudy water 16 drops / 60 mins
  
  Example: for warm clear water, for each litre of water, drop in 8 drops of the Iodine Solution and leave for 30 minutes before drinking. Caution: Do not use if there is a known allergy to iodine. Alternatives: Boil water, Condy's crystals, Puritabs (chlorine based). Note: effective against bacteria, viruses, protozoa but not cryptosporidium.

• Thermal (Space Blanket) x 1
  Use to prevent or treat hypothermia. Cover patient with warm clothing, (after removing any wet clothing and drying skin), place in a sleeping bag / blanket and then wrap in space blanket.

Biological Environment

• DEET insect repellent sachets x 4
  Use to prevent mosquito bites. Apply every 3-4 hours. Caution: Do not use on infants under 6 months or around the eyes.

• Stingose Gel (25gm)
  Use to neutralize the venom of insect bites (mosquitoes, sandflies) and marine stingers to reduce inflammation and pain. Apply promptly and liberally to all affected areas and re-apply if necessary. In the case of tropical marine stingers wash off undischarged tentacles with vinegar and treat for shock.
