Emergence Traps – Mini Soil Emergence Trap
The plastic mini soil emergence trap provides a simple method for collecting insects emerging from soil taken in the field.
A soil sample containing insect larvae is placed in the bottom container. Emerging adults will fly or crawl into top collection cup through the vinyl funnel. Both the Nylon screen (Mesh Size: 104 x 94 | 300 µm Aperture) and Wire screen (Mesh Size: 24 x 24 | 1,350 µm Aperture) on top allows for ventilation.
Collected adults can be removed using an aspirator.
Assembling: When assembling, push top collection cup against the inverse funnel until it sits firmly on the funnel.
Usage:
- Lift top collector off bottom container & put bottom cap in place to keep the insects from escaping
- Turn top collector upside down & remove cap
- Use aspirator to collect insects inside
