Insect Light Traps – 12 volt D.C. 8 watt
Designed for collecting flying insects attracted to ultra violet light. Useful for sampling insect populations and ecological surveys.
Two (2) types of traps, our standard trap (E700) and our light activated trap (E701).
The light activated trap (E701) has a switch which automatically turns the trap on at night-fall and off at dawn, thus preserving the life of the battery.
The battery usage is approximately .65 per amp hour.
Maximum working hours: A 12 volt 10 amp sealed lead battery, fully charged in good working order should last about 12 hours.
Both traps consist primarily of three sections:
- Section A consists of a white poly bucket in which two funnels are fitted. Also the container for the anaesthetic.
- Section B is the 8 watt black light fluorescent tube which is attached to three (3) clear plastic vanes. This allows a 360 degree exposure. Three 3 stretch cords are placed at equal distance apart from the top edge of the bucket to the metal ring at the top of the vanes in order to hold it in place.
- Section C covers the box which contains the solid state electronic components.
Bucket measurements: 27cm height x 26cm diameter. Acrylic vanes: 37cm x 11cm. Assembled height: 51cm.
Gross weight: Approx. 2 Kgs.
Note: Care must be taken when using the lamps as they emit ultra violet light which is harmful to the eyes. Avoid looking directly at the lamp when it is operating. Prescription glasses to eliminate the ultra violet are desirable. We also offer a range of UV-blocking face shields and goggles.
We offer a range of high quality, long life range of sealed Valve Regulated Lead Acid batteries (VRLA). The EED12140 will provide 12-14 hours of continual use for both the E700 and E701 at 8 watts. The larger EED12260 will provide 20-22 hours continual use.
